Lt. Col. James C. Royse, a 1987 graduate of DeSoto High School and a 1991 graduate of the United States Military Academy West Point, N.Y., took battalion command of the 314th Military Intelligence Battalion at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio July 23.
