How About A Little Clueless Cooking?

Former Duncanville resident, Liz Lipperman, will read from and sign copies of her
latest book – Liver Let Die at the Duncanville Public Library on Thursday evening,
February 23, 2012 beginning at 6:30 p.m. Lipperman’s book is considered a “cozy
mystery” which puts it in the genre of taking place in a small town and even though
murders happen, there isn’t any gore or violence, just lots and lots of intrigue.
Published in early October, the book is already in its 2nd printing and has received
numerous positive reviews.
Jordan McAllister, the book’s main character, is a single woman who unfortunately
followed her college love to Dallas, where she was promptly dumped. Not wanting to
return home, she ventures out to a small town new Lake Texoma to write the
Personals column for the Ranchero Globe. Her dream of being a sports writer (the
career she followed throughout college) always seems out of her grasp. So, when the
newspaper editor asks her to fill in for the Restaurant review columnist, Jordan
doesn’t bother to tell him that her idea of haute cuisine is fried bologna.
Her first assignment puts her right in the middle of a murder when her “flirty” waiter
ends of dead up her doorstep. She thought the gooey fois gras that she ordered was
terrible mess, but now she really finds herself in a mess to end all messes. Not
wanting to lose the job on her first assignment, she had scraped all the fois gras in to
her purse and Googled her way to a passable article. The close group of friends in
Jordan’s apartment building keeps the actions moving quite well and you will come to
love how they have made Jordan a part of their family and ultimately come to her
rescue.
Ms. Lipperman was a nurse for many years but longed to write too. She tried
romances, but that just didn’t seem to “fit” as well as books dealing with cooking.
And, in real life, unlike Jordan, she is a good cook. She even includes a number of
recipes in the book for her readers to try. Her 2nd book in the series, Beef Stolen-Off
is due out in early July. Liz’s non-cozy book, Mortal Deception written under the name
Liz Roth, is available through Amazon as an e-book.
This event is co-sponsored by the Best Southwest Bookfest and is free and open to
the public. Books will be available for sale. So mark your calendar for mayhem and
