Barbara Ann Rogers Wilkerson Bell, of Duncanville, passed away peacefully at 8:10 in the morning on Feb. 5, 2012 in Fort Worth, Texas. She was born on Nov 27, 1937, in Burkburnett, Texas to Charles Luther and Ethel Bell Green Rogers. Barbara attended school in Wichita Falls, TX, and graduated in 1956. In 1958, she earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Midwestern University. She was raised in various Assemblies of God churches near her family homes in North Texas.
    She married Herman Odell Wilkerson, a Dallas police officer, on July 28, 1958. They had three beautiful daughters, Terrie Lynn, Sherrie Ann, and Sharon Kay. They suffered the tragic loss of their youngest daughter, Sharon, in 1971. The family moved to Duncanville in 1973. She continued her active involvement in area churches, concluding with membership in the First Baptist Church of Duncanville. Barbara was widowed on Dec 22, 1992. She remarried on May 6, 2000 to L.A. Bell of Duncanville, Texas.
    Throughout her life, Barbara loved to share her musical talents to brighten the lives of those around her. She was a lovely singer, pianist, and accordionist. In addition to bringing her musical talents to the churches she attended, she was a member of several notable choirs. She worked for many years in the Dallas area as an executive secretary and receptionist. In her leisure time, she joyfully volunteered in various community roles. She was a proud supporter of the Republican Party, and led campaigns through the late 1990’s.
    Barbara was proud of her faith and her family, and shared heartwarming stories of both to those near her. Her family and friends can be comforted knowing that Barbara is at home in Heaven. To be absent in the body is to be in the presence of the Lord.
    She is survived by husband, L.A. Bell; her daughters, Terrie McDonald and husband Bill, and Sherrie Williams and husband Jeff; and grandchildren, Jessica Arriaga and husband Michael, Christopher McDonald, and Kala McDonald. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, two sisters, husband, Herman Odell Wilkerson, and daughter, Sharon Kay Wilkerson.
Funeral services were 10:00 am, Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Duncanville's First Baptist Church with Rev. Keith Brister and Rev. Bill White officiating. Burial followed at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Dallas. Visitation with the family is 6-8 pm, Monday, at Jaynes.
